There was one grain elevator remaining in Brandon, Manitoba. It was an ex McCabe, ex Cargill grain elevator located near the CP yard. Demolition started on May 10, 2021.
There was a newer Cargill grain elevator in Brandon that was demolished in August 2008.
Manitoba Pool
Manitoba Pool Elevators had their “A” grain elevator in northeast Brandon, on what was the CP Varcoe subdivision. It was located here between Lori Road and the Trans-Canada Highway. According to the Manitoba Historical Society, it was built between 1983 and 1984 and demolished in 2008.
The Pool “B” elevator was in line with the Pioneer grain elevator. It was reportedly demolished on September 1, 2012 at 5:25 PM (video here).
Pioneer
There was one big red Pioneer grain elevator in Brandon, near the Pool’s “B” elevator. It consisted of a large elevator, with what looks like a former Paterson adjacent to it, and a crib annex. It had a capacity of 11,930 tonnes. It was likely demolished in 2009 or 2010 after the nearby Kemnay elevator was built.
