For many years there was a Pioneer grain elevator and a Saskatchewan Wheat Pool (SWP) elevator standing in Wood Mountain. When the line was abandoned, the SWP elevator was preserved with the hope it could some day be utilized as a historic site.
With the rails left intact around the elevator (the track was removed in 1999), this was a pristine, albeit solemn location to witness the testament of prairie perseverance in the early days of the twentieth century. Built in 1920, this elevator became SWP 706. It was demolished in 2014.
