The grain elevator in Lyalta, Alberta is a concrete “Buffalo 2000” elevator built by the Alberta Wheat Pool. This design followed on from the original Buffalo elevators built at Magrath, Vegreville and Fort Saskatchewan.
The elevator at Lyalta was built in 1982 and has a capacity of about 190,000 bushels of grain in 30 bins. It was owned by the Pool initially, then Agricore after the Pool merged with UGG. Today it is owned by Canada Malting.
