Semans, Saskatchewan has a large wooden grain elevator.

Today

Semans has a large central elevator and three annexes, including a former Searle annex. The former Saskatchewan Wheat Pool “B” elevator is owned by local farmers and operates as a seed cleaning plant.

The elevator was built in 1967 beside the former “A” elevator. Its annexes date from 1956-1957.

History

In 1955, Semans had the following grain elevator companies working out of the town:

  • Searle
  • National
  • Lake of the Woods
  • Parrish and Heimbecker
  • Saskatchewan Wheat Pool (“A” and “B”)

Viterra

Viterra operates a concrete elevator between Semans and Raymore, SK. It was built in 1998 and has a capacity of 11,500 tonnes in the main elevator plus 16,000 tonnes in attached storage. There is a 52 car spot for rail car loading.

Semans is on the CN Watrous subdivision.
