“I have worked on different railroads for 40 years in Kansas and Colorado. I worked on the Santa Fe Railroad in Kansas. I was a brakeman/conductor. I worked branch lines. We served a lot of grain elevators. I lived in a small town that had two old wood grain elevators and one concrete elevator.”
“I took a lot of railroad photos. During the 1990’s, someone needed to preserve some of the older grain elevators. My first trip to Canada was 1992. I returned during the 1990’s. I made one giant trip in January 2007. This was a grain elevator photographic trip. Oh yes, I did manage to get a few trains, too.”
“I have used 35mm film cameras, 2 1/4 film cameras, 4 X 5 film cameras and digital cameras.”
“Photography is one way that we can save the past. Here one day, gone the next day. How many times have we passed up a subject – “I will photograph another day” – then it is gone.”
