The town of Crystal City, Manitoba had two grain elevators until August 2018. They were both owned by Paterson Grain. One was a Manitoba Pool elevator at one time.
The former Manitoba Pool grain elevator received a new roof on its driveway and office sometime between 2014 and 2018.
The Paterson elevator burned down on August 20, 2018. The fire started around 6 PM, and spread to nearby buildings, destroying the Cudmore Brothers hardware store and damaging the Crystal City Friendship Centre. One person was injured and transported to Winnipeg by helicopter.
Crystal City used to be on the CP Napinka subdivision, but that was cut back to near Killarney in 2007 (approximately).
The two elevators have a combined capacity of 9,620 tonnes.
An aerial photo of Crystal City from the 1987 Manitoba Pool calendar shows just these two elevators.
